Interpersonal Neurobiology

Inter Personal Neuro Biology – that’s a mouthful!

I’ll call it IPNB for convenience.

But it’s important to know, because it’s the perspective I use in all of my counseling work, and in my personal life too!

IPNB is all about the ways that our relationships and our interactions with people impact our nervous system and our physiology.

IPNB may be relatively new information for the world of psychotherapy, but it describes a process that’s been going on for all of human history.  You know other people and experiences have influenced the way you respond to life today. . . IPNB is the science that explains just how that process works.  And how to harness it to create the changes you want!

The main way I put IPNB into practice in counseling is through Somatic Experiencing, which is a particular technique for healing trauma that I’ve been trained in.  It’s awesome, especially for reducing the symptoms of PTSD, toxic stress, and anxiety.
